Elementary My Dear Job Seeker

The best detectives know where they’re looking

➔ How tough is it to be looking for a job in 2022 when you’re past your 50th birthday? Real tough. Exceptionally tough.

And do you know what makes looking for a job at your age even tougher? Not knowing what you’re looking for. Sure, we know. You’re looking for a job. But what kind of job?

Take off your blinders

If you don’t know what you’re looking for, how do you ever expect to find it? If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you won’t even know where to begin looking. That’s a prescription for failure if there even was one.

What kind of job are you looking for? Profit or non-profit? Retail/consumer or business-to-business? Manufacturing or service? White collar or blue? Technology driven or literal nuts and bolts? Ready for something new and different, or do you seek the tried and true? And, since Covid, work in the office or work from home?

As basic as these questions are, the more important it is for you to answer them – with surety and clarity. As simple as you may think these questions are, when actually faced with choosing one over another, it may not be so black and white.

Getting a firm grip on the what and where will eliminate a lot of time wasted chasing after false hopes and dreams. The earlier that you can confirm your basics the better able you will be at conducting a targeted, focused job search.

Our “Ideal Job Workbook” is more than just a simple five-minute quiz. Our workbook digs into what you really want to do and offers a plan as to how to find that job. Because we want to see you succeed, you can download your free copy here.
