Age discrimination is deeply ingrained in the job market. Nearly anyone laid off after 50 can tell stories of dismissal, frustration and ageist moments in the hunt for work. Worse yet are the experiences of many older job seekers who are Black, women, or have a high school education or less. But what if you could get a job without showing a résumé or a job interview?
   That’s not a pipe dream. A small but important movement is pushing the concept of what’s known as “open hiring.”

Through countless rewrites, keyword-stuffing, and sweating over the exact alignment of bulleted lists, candidates struggle to create the ultimate resume that will catch the reader’s attention and keep them from landing in the hiring manager’s wastebasket.
   In my opinion, they needn’t bother. In fact, I believe every resume belongs in the bin.
   Why? Because resumes don’t predict job performance.

Of course being ticklish has no place in a job search, but a tickler file can be enormously beneficial.
   If you’ve been job searching for any length of time undoubtedly you’ve have someone suggest that you get back to them at a later day. Whether it’s next week or next month, it is to the job seekers benefit to follow through on the those suggestions – if for no other reason that to demonstrate that you’re responsible, professional and true to your word.   MORE
